Rap Groups
1.Wu-Tang
Clan
(all
members and Wu Family) - It all started with their first album Enter the
36 Chambers. I just like their rap style and RZA's beats. In my mind
there is no other group out there that can make my head bob like
the WU. I have all the albums, and I will continue to be a fan until they
stop making music.
2.Jeru
the Damaja
-
He is my man. Jeru can spit knowledge in his rhymes and still not bore
you to death. He is a straight to the point type rapper that does
not hide his points in overly complex metaphors.
3. The
Roots - Organic hip hop at the top level. Nothing more is needed to
be said.
4.Redman
- One of those guys that can say anything on the mic, and you will like
it.
5.Mobb
Deep - My favorite hard core rap group. More
Mobb Deep.
6.Flipmode
Squad (all members) - Busta, Rah Digga, Rampage, are made of pure energy.
7.Eric
B. & Rakim
-
Classic Duo of mellow beats and smooth rhymes. No one could do it better.
8.KRS-ONE
- The old man that always has something to teach. More
KRS-ONE.
9.Mystikal
- Raw energy on the mic. He is one of the few people that can rap over
an weak beat and still make a hit out of it.
10.Xzibit
-
Another smart rapper with rap for your mind and for the street.
R&B
1.Sade
-
She
is simply the "baddest" (bad in a good way) singer in the world. No one
can match her style, or copy her sound. Listen to one of her CDs and you
will be taken away by her voice like I was. More
Sade.
2.willie
max
-
This is not a well known group, but they make the top ten. Almost every
song on their debut album, Bona Fide, hits home with the feeling I have
cooped up in side of me.
3.groove
theory
-
I just feel good every time I play their album.
4.Mary
J. Blige - Some people you can just "feel." Her music is just real.
Mary sings with her heart not with hear lungs. More
Mary.
5.Lauryn
Hill - A deep album that rocked the rap and r&b world.
6.702
-
Here is another group that came out with the right song that captured my
internal feeling at the time.
7.R. Kelly
- Like Mary, he sings with passion. He is one of the few male r&b artist
I really like.
8. HHmm...
9. Hhmmmm....
10. Still thinking.............
Movies
1. Star
Wars (all movies) - Do I need to give
a reason? This is one of the greatest epics in all of film.
2. Back
to the Future (all movies) - I always
wanted to time travel.
3. The
Matrix (best movie of '99)
-
Mind blowing special effects, and complex store line make this a great
movie. Though the ending was weak, the ride was great. I think I have seen
this movie about 8 times!
4. The
Usual Suspects
-
You will have to see this movie. Then, after seeing the ending, rewind
and see all the things you missed the first time. No more clues. Just go
see it.
5. The
Mystery Of Chess Boxing - A must see for
any martial art fan. Can you hear where the Wu-Tang got some of the samples
for their albums?
6. Thin
Line Between Love and Hate - Great story!
7. The
Game - Another movie with a twisted ending.
You never had a day like this poor man. You have to watch the movie to
understand.
8. Friday
- Ghetto Classic
9. Caught
Up - My bro. told me about this one. Complex
story line.
10. Player's
Club - Props to Ice Cube. Job well done.
